Why no Vault Keeper?

Why was the Vault Keeper omitted from this film.Does any one know?

I know, it would have gone well with the first one. Then they could have made a third one called The Haunt of Fear with The Old Witch and made it a trilogy.

Good movies may draw an audience, but bad movies make a scene.

Maybe they felt the prologue would have just been the same as the first one?

Would've bee cool if he was here. And a HAUNT OF FEAR movie with the old witch. That would've been awesome.

Indeed, it would have been- even if the prologues and epilogues were basically the same in all three.(Actually, much the same twist in the frame story has been used in any number of horror anthologies) It's also interesting to ponder who might have played VK and OW in those films! I'm also disappointed that they were not included as hosts on HBO either, though CK was once again. Happy Halloween!

Personally, I think Vincent Price would make an awesome VK.

Would have made an awesome VK, you mean. Past tense.

Yeah. I mean, this movie was from the 1970s after all...

Yeah, no Ralph Richardson. A shame.

I'm OK without a vault keeper because that structure just seems a bit too obvious to me. On the other hand, the wraparound story could have had a bit more momentum behind the mostly superb stories.

When I first watched this, I was totally expecting the Vault Keeper to appear and was let down when he never showed up. The Crypt Keeper has always been well represented in all of the media based on the original 50's EC horror comics, but the Vault Keeper and the Old Witch are always sorely missing. At least they were both in the Tales from the Cryptkeeper cartoon, but it would have been cool to see live action versions.
