brando regretted doing this film???

i heard that brando didn't talk to the director for 10 years after this film came out .Could anyone explain why ?

reply

He said he 'felt raped and manipulated' by Bertolucci, who had taken a shot of Brando naked 'out of shame for myself.'
Brando said he'd never make another movie like it, and pretty much shared Maria Schneider's feelings about the whole thing: that Bertolucci was a pervert who manipulated them for a script he admitted was inspired by his own sexual fantasies.

i remember reading the portion the about him feeling manipulated and about not talking to that director for 10 years .

"Brando said he'd never make another movie like it, and pretty much shared Maria Schneider's feelings about the whole thing: that Bertolucci was a pervert who manipulated them for a script he admitted was inspired by his own sexual fantasies" i didn't know the guy admitted to being inspired by his own sexual fantasy ;typical pretentious art/porn..Brando was right when he was asked if there was any good artists in the film business. He said there is known ,true back then as it is today

I've only just learned about this angle of this film. Not only were they manipulated, but the butter scene was not "acted", Maria was actually IRL raped in that scene. It was colluded by Brando and Bertolucci. She never got over it.

He is a real monster for doing such a thing: http://www.elle.com/culture/movies-tv/news/a41202/bertolucci-last-tango-in-paris-rape-scene-non-consensual/
But then again, a great many of the idolised male celebrities are. I have spent all my life watching films like a manic person... but the more I know, the more I am appalled at such nastiness.
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

I'm pretty sure she wasn't not rape, i.e. Brando didn't penetrate her. I'm not sure what part of the scene was and wasn't discussed. She knew they were gonna film a rape scene, but didn't know about the butter.

that is still sexual violence. Society as a whole knew much much less about that in that time, regrettably. Good we re wiser now which is why this is causing just outrage.
I do wonder why the 2013 interview with that director is surfacing now. Pure coincidence?

reply

I'm not saying it wasn't wrong... just that I don't know what the exact details are other than he didn't rape her.

reply

I regretted watching it, I can tell you that!
