Was anyone else annoyed with, 'Ya follow?'

I know it was Lonnegan's way of taking charge, being Mr. Tough Guy, and shutting down all dissent. But it was just such a goddamned annoying way to do it. That phrase! I dunno, it just really bothered me.

Anyone else?

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Personally, I thought it was genius. Those two words conveyed an implication of the most serious sorts. My favorite scene in which that line is used is on the golf course:

"Charlie (or whatever his name was) and I have known each other since we were six. Get a good look at that face, Floyd. Because if he were to find out that I could be beaten by one lousy grifter, I'd have to kill him and everyone else who wants to muscle in on my Chicago operation. Ya follah?"

He who conquers himself is mightier than he who conquers a city.

Just as annoying as someone typing: 'Ya follow' in their criticism instead of how he actually says it ... You only had ONE job to do and ya blew it !!

Ya falla ?

I think it was his Irish equivalent of the Italian mobsters' capiche?

Meaning: "I have made up my mind. No more discussion."

Agree with the others-it's a great line.

I actually use it on people from time to time, tho they always talk back instead of just shutting up and walking away.
