One thing that bothered me.

I love this movie, I gave it a 10 but one thing that bothered was the background music. The best example I can give is when Serpico is in the shoe shop, I found it really annoying, it took away from the movie somehow. It's a little complaint I know, but it has got to bother someone else too.

"I wrapped his ding-dong in seaweed and he's been smiling ever since!"

The only thing that bothers me about Serpico is that I can't buy in on Blu-ray.

What's strange is that there are many Lumet films that don't even have a score. He is probably the most successful director ever to have so many films without background music, or at least very little of it.

Have you seen PRINCE OF THE CITY, op? Check it out asap.

Shuji Terayama forever.

I think the score was fine, and, by the way, Sydney Lumet wanted no music at all. I think the producer convinced him to change his mind, and he was happy with the end result.

I thought the music felt tonally inconsistent at first, but then I realized it was all about the character.

In a way, the music is 'Serpico'. Ethnic, romantic, honest, raw, and kind of tragic.

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to it's awesomeness.

Exactly, my friend!

I actually didn't like this film that much, however I did like the music.

Gave it a kinda mellow, oldschool, happy feel.

reply

The music was very proper in my opinion.

reply

And that's 10 out of 10? Strange that a movie could still be rated as perfect with flaws.

reply

Yeah I thought it funny how some scenes were just the dialogue, and other scenes the music was louder than the dialogue. Thank you subtitles.
