I love this film so very, very, VERY much.

The first time I saw it I was blown away, it really is that good.
Steve McQueen's best performance ever, Dustin Hoffman gives a mind-blowing performance, the direction is awesome...this is just excellent film-making all around. Definitely in my top 5.

I agree its a great film, but if it wasnt for my dad then i would of never even known about it so it doesnt have the acclaim it deserves, or it doesnt have a great fan based to get it out to everybody.

Agreed, just about flawless and the locations lend a real authentic feel. McQueen was one of the all time greats and Hoffman was excellent too.

What an unbelievable film! Not only was the cinematography top notch but the symbolism behind so many great shots simply took this movie to the next level. HIGHLY recommend to anyone who can read beneath the surface.

Papillon moved me deeply.. I've had to experience such a feeling since " About Schmidt" another great movie.. Please if you know similar films let me know
Thank you!

My mom got me to watch this movie when I was thirteen. I was entranced by it. I have probably seen it a hundred times at this point in my life, and I would still call it my all time favorite movie. After the first time I watched it, I immediately went to the library and checked out Papillon and the followup book called Banco. It's just a damn great story, the story of the real Papillon, whether it's all true or not. I think the movie is so full of subtle, wonderful moments. I used to think of Papi saying "I'm still here, you bastards!" anytime I was feeling down when I was teenager. He became a kind of hero to me, just by the fact that he never, ever gave up and he always prevailed.

McQueen and Hoffman were both so perfect in their roles. I am not a huge Hoffman fan, but I can't imagine anyone else taking his place in this movie. He brought a lot of emotion and humor to the movie to balance out the more stoic, but still incredible, Papillon of Steve McQueen.

it never bored me even for a sec and i've never seen anything like it. it's an exciting adventureous masterpiece. and Henri Charriere was a brilliant amazing guy.

I hate how this movie is so overseen. It's absolutely stunning. I'd place it in my top 10 probably too.

It has a rare quality. Personally, I feel as if I'm a part of the story rather than watching it on a screen. This will never get old for me.

I love the music especially near the end. It brings a strong melancholy feel to the end of these two men's lives.
It was one of the first movies I saw when I first came to America. I was only 5 and didn't really understand English very well back then but it left a big impression on me. The beheading scene, the last hug, jump and floating out in the ocean had this movie swimming around my head for a long time.
I've rewatched it countless times and it never fails to impress me each time.
