Scene played in reverse

At 1:28:14, there’s a nighttime scene where Newman is swimming away from a dock after Wheeler jumps into a motorboat and speeds off. Apparently, the director did not have footage of Newman swimming away from the dock so, he just took footage of Newman swimming toward the dock and simply played it in reverse. It looks ridiculous. Because it’s in reverse, the wake from his swimming moves towards his head which is bobbing in the water. It was such a half-assed way to save money on a re-shoot. Completely amateur.
