Rank Your Bonds

For me, my ranking would look like this...

1. Sean Connery
2. Daniel Craig
3. Pierce Brosnan
4. Timothy Dalton
5. Roger Moore
6. George Lazenby

Your ranking?

"I'm not a rascist...I'm an a$$hole!"

reply

1. Sean Connery
2. George Lazenby (On Her Majesty's Secret Service is the BEST Bond movie IMO)
3. Daniel Craig
4. Timothy Dalton
5. Roger Moore
6. Pierce Brosnan

People write off Lazenby because he only had one turn as Bond, but I think this is unfair.

1. Sean Connery, the epitome of Bond to me.
2. All the others but if a list is necessary:
George Lazenby
Roger Moore
Pierce Brosnan
Daniel Craig
Timothy Dalton

Why ain't you at the garden party you heathen?

reply

It's nice to see you like Lazenby; OHMSS is without compare my favorite Bond film. But I just don't get how you can rank Pierce Brosnon over Timothy Dalton AND Daniel Craig. Brosnon was the weakest Bond IMO. Is it that you didn't like the tougher, angry James Bond that Dalton and Craig play him as?

reply

You pegged it; I much prefer my Bonds with a sense of humor and a bit of fluff and the anger just wasn't suave enough. Connery and Lazenby could strut their stuff magnificently and usually kept their cool. Brosnan is easier on the eye than both Dalton and Craig to me, so he's in the middle of the pack.

Okay, fair enough. Connery and Lazenby were the best, i agree. and I will admit Brosnan is prettier than both Dalton, and Craig! but to me, Brosnon just didn't seem like he could kick some ass when the time came; he just didn't look 'big enough..' whereas Daniel Craig looks more solid. Maybe i should lighten up and try to enjoy the funnier aspects of Bond; however nothing can get me to watch "A View To A Kill" ever again..that just took the silliness to an unacceptable level IMO.

1.Connery - The perfect Bond. Not even DaF can bring his ranking down.

2.Moore - Different from Connery, he made the role his own, and certain traits of his were copied by following Bonds.

3.Lazenby - Under-rated, and his is the best Bond film, IMO. There are, maybe, a few minor things wrong with OHMSC, but he is not one of them.

4.Craig - Good physical Bond, his Bond movies suffer from indifferent script writing. The series has been around for so long, its difficult to keep it fresh.

6.Dalton/Brosnan - Both Hopelessly "meh". I really lost interest in following the series altogether because of these two. I've always thought that they were just filling in until a good Bond could be hired again.

Cheers!

Always choose the lesser of two weevils.

1. Roger Moore
First Bond I ever saw, on my dad's VHS of 'Live And Let Die', and definitely my favourite. Charming, suave, debonair, but with a secretive hint of mysterious cruelty you could never quite place. He was attractive, cocky, skilled, but still menacing enough to be considered a real threat.

2. Timothy Dalton
Darkest of all the Bonds. Yes, he was in two movies, but honestly, which other Bond actually went ROGUE from MI6 for the sake of simple revenge? That's the reason I like Dalton, and the reason that 'License To Kill' is actually my favourite Bond film. Dalton took matters into his own hands, and hell with the consequences. He just wanted to get *beep* done.

3. Pierce Brosnan
Classy and cocky, with a smile to make anyone melt into a puddle of 'ooh~!'
And plus, they did something for Brosnan that they didn't do for any of the previous Bonds... made him a badass. They gave him military gear, flak jackets, assault rifles, they actually made Bond into a serious killer, easily earning his 00-ranking.

4. Sean Connery
I'll never really understand why so many people liked Connery. People always say that he's the definitive Bond... what, because he came first? I don't get it, I don't see what there is to love about him. He's only 4 on this list because the other two I genuinely have no interest in, Connery just baffles me though.

5. Daniel Craig
Too serious and stoic for my liking, with no real charm to him. Just grumpy grizzly growls. Oh sure, he has a line or two which are meant to be charming or funny, but it doesn't work for me.

6. George Lazenby
I feel awful for putting Lazenby at the end of the list, but he wasn't in enough movies to actually be a defined character. I just remember him as the one who climbed the tram-wires.

1 Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery : those two had the perfect balance of great looks, sophistication, threatening, sex appeal, charm and sense of Humor in short the whole Package.

2 Timothy Dalton almost the whole package except sense of humor he kept some of the funny one liners but were not as effective as the ones we heard from Pierce or Sean Connery.

3 daniel Craig way too serious for my taste however i preffer overly serious than someone who looks like a parody of James Bond and well he is doing great this new much darker take on James Bond for people who prefer the Ian Fleming's Bond its just that i personally prefer the myth the Sean Connery movies created.

4 Roger Moore he had some very good films and moments and i give him credit for giving his own spin to this character by making him the funniest Bond but by the 7th film i got tired of his style.

5 George Lazenby he was amazing in the ending and his movie is very good in the second half but he just doesnt have the sex appeall nor the sophistication to portray Bond and lacked the threatening appearance the other actors had
