Why were there two types of vampires was it because the monstrous ones had weaker spirits / more Bestial Instincts than the green vampires?

Why si many children companions?
1. One type of vampire is like Lemora while the others are feral degenerates, wildly wandering the woods. The movie never explains why this is.
2. I assume it was a ceremony to convert Lila to the undead.
3. Being a demonic creature, Lemora sought innocent, undefiled prey, hence, children. They were all presumably converted to vampirism as children.
