What exactly did Bolo die of?

Was it the kick to the groin courtesy of Mr. Roper?

I find it hard to believe that a man as physically strong as bolo could die from a kick to the groin...

If anybody could shed some light as to how he died, I would be very grateful!!

Peace!

reply

Hi, could you point out anything in the movie that claimed Bolo actually was dead? I always thought he simply couldn't get up and/or move because he was hit so much between the legs. lol ouch.

reply

well, Han was pretty pissed orf..
as if he knew somehow that a weakness to Bolo (ball maybe) had been exploited..
so i doubt he'd go all "Attack! Kill!" if bolo was merely downed temporarily.
just an opinion.

reply

I heard that a well placed kick to the balls can actually kill a man. But im not sure if that true. In the movie casino they put ice picks through a guys balls and he's still alive. So it all depends on which movie u want to believe.

This is making my balls hurt just talking about it.

reply

Shame. He died of shame...

Roper crushed his soul man! He raped his mind! Bolo just lost the will to live!

How do you like your brandy, sir?
In a glass.

Movie make believe.....remember in Way of the Dragon when Tang Lung put the European fighter out of commission with a punch lol

reply

Swedish tennis player Stefan Edberg once killed a line ref with a amash between the legs. Older guy, he had a heart attack.

The ref fell and hit his head hard on the court...he went into a coma and died 5 days later, but NOT from the ball hitting his balls.

Ha ha that's such a great scene!

DISPLAY thy breasts, my Julia!

reply

Even if he didn't die because of the kick I am sure many prisoners would jump on his head while he was lying on the floor during the big fight.

reply

Nobody mentioned that after Bolo gets it in the family jewels, the camera cuts away and you hear another "whack" sound. Then you see him lying on the ground, Roper steps back and you see Bolos head hit the ground like he's dead. I figured the last "whack" sound was the killing blow, and it was left ambiguous, so maybe Roper hit him in the throat or other sensetive target and they just didn't show it.

reply

Yeah I've always found that strange. And very annoying that Bruce didn't fight him. That would have been a great throwdown.Bruce vs Bolo.

It's a part of the film I always laugh at because Bolo would've eaten Saxon for breakfast.

reply

Same as Williams would have smashed Han to pieces. But thats why Enter the Dragon is brilliant!!!

Looks like it's you big boy!!.......Zed, Pulp Fiction

reply

I have always found that weird as well. It feels like they cut part of the fight scene.

Do we know for sure he died? Maybe he passed out, I mean after all nobody checked, Han just started yelling random names to attack Lee and Roper.

You are entitled to my opinion, whether you want it or not!!

He died from the nut shot. Doesn't matter how strong you are, balls are the great equalizer among men. A flick of the finger will cause pain, imagine a jump kick from a grown man.

reply

Although it is possible that a kick to the 'Goolies' could cause internal bleeding and eventual death, there is no way it can cause instant death. For all we know Bolo simply passed out. Nobody declares him dead!

reply

He didn't die, he just passed out from the pain.

Unless of course the theory that Roper broke his neck or something off camera.

Weak part of the editing. They should have added another sequence with it.

Or unless Bruce was so quick he snapped his neck when no one was looking.

reply

That's not the way someone passes out. He clearly died. Whether it's realistic to die from a nut shot is debatable, but it's obvious he was meant to die from it.

reply

He died of a typical movie illness. The script called for him to die, so he did.

Vader: I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Tarkin: Enough of this! Vader, release him!

reply

At no point in the movie is it established Bolo died!

I was just wondering this tonight when I saw it for the 30th time. It seems a premise of the movie that people die during martial arts fights, and rather sharply where you would expect just a knock out. At least the film is almost perfectly consistent in this regard.
