I defy anyone not to get choked up...

when Breezy is taken into the vet's office, then squeezes w/ delight the(now healthy) pooch, and says to Holden: "I think I'll love you forever." Sniff! Oh that puppy:)

On a side note, William Holden really was a fantastic actor. He is sensitive w/ great comedic timing to boot. Even in a "small" movie like this, he just shines. What a talent.

You are so right. I greatly miss William Holden.

I miss William Holden as well. He brought a genuine humanity to smaller roles like this.

I also miss Earle, aka Sir Love-A-Lot. He was always there with a wag and a lick, and he could fetch like there was no tomorrow.

Couldn't beat the dare... Was not ready to be so affected... One of the true genuine moments ever put on screen...

Loved the dog, adds a nice touch to story. What breed was it?

Actually, the line is, " Ya know what? I think I might love you till the day I die ". I probably should know, because I've probably seen this film 15 times. However, I don't even have to watch it. All I have to do is think about the scene and I get misty eyed.

Holden is probably the most natural actor I've ever seen, with Stanwyck being a very close second. Too bad we lost him so young. He probably had another 10-15 years left in his distinguished career.

I got a little choked up when Frank was mean to her to get her to leave, near the end. I understood why he was doing it, but I found it hard to watch him make her so unhappy.
