Does anyone else talk to themself?

To the degree Woody did in this film?

I sometimes do it, usually to work out something puzzling.

I think he does the same thing.

Does anyone else?

A great little film, very funny. I found the other guy always having to "phone in" his contact info in almost every scene quite amusing. I guess that's how it was before mobile phones for "important people."

Some people use to do that. If they does it all the time then is called "Schizophrenia".

I know a girl who talks to herself all the time and she says it in a weird screechy voice and that girl happened to sit next to me in class a month ago.
It was so freaky I always kept my distance, it was like someone was possessing her or something!

It was worse than Allan Felix's! Waaay worse! Glad the teacher changed our seating!

"It was to be announced at the Party Congress on Monday. As you know, the Premier loves surprises."

Isn't Woody's "talking to himself" really more like addressing the audience? As in, "breaking the fourth wall?" George Burns did this all the time on "The Burns and Allen show." Let's not forget, "Play It Again, Sam" was a stage play before it became a movie.

Even when Woody "talks" to the spirit of Humphrey Bogart, none of the other characters in the cast seem to be aware he's having an audible "conversation" with Bogie. Which means that, as in the original play, the exchanges between Woody and Bogie are for the benefit of the audience and undetected by the other characters. Anyway, it's supposed to be a frickin' comedy! We might as well analyze the inane/anarchistic antics of the Marx Brothers and agonize over THEIR irrational (and HILARIOUS) schtick, as to subject the self-admitted nerdy neurotics, which Woody Allen has always specialized in portraying, to scrutiny and the laws of logic!

It's an internal monolog spoken aloud so that the audience can know it.

I definitely talk to myself to make sure I'm getting something straight, a bit like jotting down notes or something. A couple times I've been caught. Or I say things like "What the hell..." There are other times I've felt so much like someone I know is around, or I've been thinking of them, and suddenly I say something out loud as I would to them.

Having cats helps...or maybe seems even crazier, lol.

Do I?

No you're right you dont.

reply

No, but someone else may talk to himself or herself.
There's no such word as themself.

Of course I talk to my self, it's the only way I can be sure I am having an intelligent conversation
