Why Sadie?

I understand the names "Krug" and "Weasel" for the two villians, but why would the name "Sadie" come to mind when naming the third one? Were the filmmakers thinking it could be short for "sadistic" or something? Or was it just the first girl's name that popped into their heads?

My guess is that it's a reference to
"Sexy Sadie"...one of Charles Manson's followers who was, in fact named after The Beatles' song of the same name.

RIP Wes Craven by the way...

That makes sense I never thought of it that way. I've always been fascinated with the Manson cult and why they followed him. I should have made that connection myself.

And to strengthen your argument further, in one doc Jeramie Rain said when she was cast in Last House, she was appearing in an off-Broadway play based on the Manson murders playing "Sexy Sadie" Susan Atkins, which is probably what landed her the part as this vile woman in Last House.

My first thought was 'Sexy Sadie' as well but didn't know where it came from: thanks for the info!

Actually, Manson was calling her that before he song came out, which just helped convince his followers that he shared headspace with the Beatles.

I'd buy that!

Sounds a bit like "sadist", perhaps?

The Tate/Labianca were only three years before this so I'm sure they still must've been fresh on people's minds. I bet she was named after Susan Atkins.
