Piano Man!!!

Richard Pryor should have gotten an Oscar nomination for his role as Piano Man. He Steals every scene he is in and his chemistry with Diana Ross is outstanding.

Word up!!He was undoubtedly one of the best things about this movie!!

He certainly was, and there was plenty of "buzz" about a possible nomination at the time. Also bear in mind that much of the dialogue he shares with Ross is IMPROVISED. As one of the greatest standup comedians of all time, he was a master improviser, of course.

Rich was very good no doubt about it, but I thought he should have done more drama movies. Yes he was good in comedies, but I thought he could have taken his career to the next level in drama. Eddie Murphy is another one who needs to make the change.

That scene where he gets beaten up is pretty sad, but very memorable. That scene was very well done. First, he is getting drunk with Billie as she goofs around and acts silly. They look so happy as they live in the moment. Then, in comes the bad guys all dressed up in their gangster suits to let him have it.

Very well done, but tragic.

Right! That scene is so hard to watch especially being that he is such a likeable character in the film. It's also hard to hear him say as he's getting beat up..."They're gonna kill me."

I guess I'll be the one that goes against the crowd. He definitely did not deserve an OSCAR! LOL. His performance wasn't anything amazing. Yes it was decent acting and improv but OSACR worthy? No.

I bet you're wondering what a place like this is doing in a girl like me-The Mummy

I'll stay with the crowd and be against you partner. Pryor was amazing in this and if Pacino, Duvall, And Caan not been nominated for The Godfather , he would have been nominated for this performance. We see a great comedian get lost in a roll as an actor and give an excellent performance, and all you see is Richard Pryor in a dramatic movie and say "No He shouldn't be nominated"!

100% Agree

How? He was the comic relief.
