Welles

Did Welles go back to the girl in the end? It would have been the perfect
ending. How about this film for a remake

reply

Virtually every successful genre film from the 70's is being considered for remake. This one wasn't successful, but still . . .

I think it could be an excellent remake, but for Welles' character. No star would want to play such an arrogant, out-and-out SOB -- critical to protecting the twist ending.

reply

Welles wasn't arrogant. He was trying to put the pieces togother and he was
alone in a real sense. It was Tuxan who was arrogant. He would stop at nothing
to solve the whole mystery.

Of course you're right.
I meant Tuxan.

What a maroon.

reply

I disagree. I think someone like Bruce Willis could play Tuxan as arrogant and still be the star of the film.

reply

I think this film could deserve a remake; it's a decent plot idea, but the movie could have been better.

The risk, though is that it would be just another stupid action movie full of CGI explosions, instead of a tense thriller.

reply

I'm with you on the need for a good remake – emphasis on good – and the risk of CGI explosions spoiling it as they have so many other films. You'd also probably have GPS tracking his every move and people yelling into cell phones constantly. OK, cancel the remake request. And while I'm at it, RIP Michael Sarrazin.

Wasn't that Welles with Nicole in the end credits, hand in hand in the surf on that beach?
