I couldn`t agree with you more, KingofWayne66, on all these mistakes. RISEN is indeed set in the early 1900s as the beginning has that young soon-to-be-mute lad wheeling his way to the village church on his bicycle. You are correct about the year in Harker`s diary being 1885; as to Father Sandor`s reference to Dracula`s last documented appearance 10 years prior in DARKNESS, it could be perhaps argued that the hermitage`s records pre-date the initial Van Helsing-Dracula encounter in the 1958 movie and that Father Sandor is simply unaware of the first movie`s events. Father Sandor says "This is the last record we have of him".

You mean post-dates ('post' is before, 'pre' is after). 1885-1900 isn't 10 years and thus the hermitage's encounter with Dracula couldn't be set before 1885. This film is obviously set after 1900 as the coffin in 'Has Rise' reads "1903" (or "1905" as the last digit is hard to make out). It could be anywhere between 1903 and 1904 (the coffin may be out of date); I doubt it is 1904, the settin of 'Legend of The Seven Golden Vampires' and possibly 'Taste The Blood of Dracula' and 'Scars of Dracula' (I would say 'Scars...' is set after them all and it cannot be set before the first film as someone had said as it has a luger that was commonly used in the 1900s).

Father Sandor probably made a mistake like most humans do; it is as simply as that. Dracula died in 1885 and was brought back in the early 20th Century.

The modern Dracula films ('Dracula AD 1972' and 'The Satanic Rites of Dracula')are just not the same continuity and thus series as the Victorian/Edwardian era ones. It is as simple as that.

Agreed.

The coffin is marked 1905...I managed to look very closely at it...so 'Legend...' probably does not fit in to the canon.

Thanks. We should just disregard 'Legend...' also, then. I think 'Scars...' is set in 1907.

it cant be prequal because van helsing dies and because drac is dead so that would make even the 1958 and all the rest obsolete

This is very disturbing and looks like plot hole galore with this one and every other Hammer Dracula film
