Why can't Charlie Brown butter toast??

People, especially kids, always want to butter the bread before it's toasted but that's dangerous and bad for the toaster. So I think he means he can't pre-butter it.

Same reason he can't cut eye-holes in a sheet for Halloween -- he's a blockhead!
