Seventies horror-satire ready to be looked at again
This isn't a great film but it does deserve to be lifted from the remainder bins, Richard Burton is in definite decline and his performance feels fueled by controlled and uncontrolled substances. A bevy of beautiful and sensuous actresses, indeed. I don't think it would be fair to say who is the best. My personal favorite: Racquel Welch is stunning as ever but Joey Heatherton is the astonishing revelation here. A personal best, her legacy. The European talent aren't shabby and hold up their end.
There is a brutish, cruel quality that hangs over the whole project. It feels like high end soft core porn. This is whiteploitation cinema.
