Fantastic locations.

One of the great features of this show were the location shots. You got the feel of San Francisco. It never felt once that any of the shots were in a studio.

Compared that to Ironside which to me didn't feel like it was shot in San Francisco and had often a studio feel.

The Streets of San Francisco was (almost) entirely filmed on location in San Francisco and the Bay Area. That was a rather rare characteristic, I can only recall Hawaii Five-0 with a similar authenticity. But, you are right, this authenticity of the location(s) is what makes the atmosphere so special.

"I Spy" was another show with great locations. Most of the episodes were filmed in Hong Kong, Japan, Greece, Spain, and Mexico.

Yes-the location shooting was great.

Very true. And it gives us our favorite game (at least it's my favorite): find the location! I love trying to figure out where they are in scenes where it isn't stated or otherwise obvious. I also like seeing the dramatic changes from over 40 years ago (which also adds to the challenge sometimes). I think the city has changed more than I have in that time.

I also love when they give the real address...it's all good.

The House in "The House on Hyde Street" is actually on the corner of Pennsylvania and 18th street. The filming of the roof top shots are a couple blocks up 18th street on top of the New Potrero Market at 1301 18th street.

I lived in San Francisco in the '70s. It was beautiful, and a lot had improved the last time I was there, in 2002. The way it has become today is tragic.

I have been re-watching the show just to see how San Francisco used to look. I work in the Financial District, and nothing looks like it did when I used to go to The City from my home in Santa Clara to shop or go clubbing back in the '80s and early '90s, so I like to jog my memory by watching the show.

I have been watching it on CBS ACTION on FilmOn at 8:30pm Pacific.

How does FilmOn work? I tried to click "watch" but it said it wasn't available in my area? I'm in the SF Bay Area. Thanks for any hints on getting it to work. I'm missing Streets of San Francisco since METV stopped showing it!
