Is Banacek Shown on TV Anymore?

I really wish I could see the Banacek episodes on TV but I can't find them anywhere on TV or on the web. Can anyone help?? I NEED to see a high quality detective show.

One of the episodes was the RTN Saturday Movie today. See if you have a local RTN Affilite:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Retro_Television_Network_affiliates

and maybe they'll play more.

Thanks, firefly! I do have a local RTN affiliate. It is a digital signal so I need to go ahead and use my coupons to buy converter boxes.

Yea, I am currently watching this show on my local RTN station, 25-3. Its on here in Cincinnati at 5 p.m on Saturday. So yea, get a converter box & have at it. They also show the A-Team weekdays at 8 p.m.

Well, 10% of one million is one hundred thousand dollars. That's not chump change. I guess if the item is not valuable enough, Banacek wouldn't bother to take the case. As for insurance companies, they should not underwrite policies that they could not afford to pay off on. Insurance is about the only business with a guaranteed profit margin. If the insurance companies screw up, I don't feel sorry for them.

If Banacek were to be remade, I don't think any current actors have the gravitas required to carry the role. George Peppard in the Banacek character is a tough act to follow. Some things are better left alone.

Several of you have mentioned that RTN has Banacek but I watch RTN regularly and I have checked the listings with no sight of Banacek. Maybe different RTN affiliates have different playlists but even on the RTN web site, Banacek does not show up in the list of shows.

Am I missing something?? Please help because I really miss that detective show but I can't afford to purchase the DVDs.

It's being shown locally here in the tri-state area of NY/NJ/CT on WLNY. (I live in NY and get it on cable.)

But that's not a nationally distributed station, as far as I know

I see now on Amazon that the complete series can be had for 30 bucks including shipping, through people who sell on amazon.

They have been showing episodes on WLNY in New York, lately. On Cablevision in Rockland County, that's channel 10.

You can also find it for online viewing at http://www.veoh.com. Yes, you have to use their browser plugin, and register, but still... Video/Audio quality is good and no commercials. YIPPEEEE!

Just finished watching "Fly Me, If You Can Find Me" a little while ago.

Check it out.

Corsair-11, I must be missing something. I registered on Veoh.com and I still can't find Banacek. Yet you said you just finished watching an episode. Please point the way with a link. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it was taken down less than a week after I posted.
I apologize for not posting an update... Slipped my mind.
Hopefully it will show up on Hulu, or somewhere else in the near future.
I only got to watch one episode.

I appreciate your efforts anyhow. I might have to go ahead and buy the DVD set. Somehow, it's just more fun to watch on demand.

I'm watching Banacek on RTV here in Milwaukee right now. It started at 5PM CDT. According to the pdf of the RTV schedule in MY area, from 5-6:30 on Saturdays is "RTN Mystery Theater". It says nothing specifically about Banacek, but I'm guessing they switch off between various mystery movies in this time period. Hope this helps.

Now if that bastard so much as twitches, I'm going to blow him right to Mars.

I did finally manage to catch a Banacek episode on RTN Mystery Theater a while ago. It was confusing at first because many titles fall under the "RTN Mystery Theater" heading but whatever is shown is always interesting.

They've been showing them on WLNY for awhile; but to my knowledge, they have never shown the pilot episode, 'Detour to Nowhere.' I think that's the only one I haven't seen (I've seen the others many times).

It's playing on the weekends on MeToo which is a Chicago area station.

Maybe this mattress will spin on its axis and find me on yours.

It's not just in Chicago. It started there, but it's pretty widespread these days.

Every Monday at 8PM eastern on Cozi-TV (yet another secondary channel network like MeTV, Antenna, This, RetroTV, et al).

Hello there,I hear you!

This is not a much-posted on board, which is a shame, but if this fine series is being seen again, perhaps that will change.

I have the complete series DVDs,which are now out-of-print for some reason;perhaps Shout Factory can aquire the rights to it,and give it a much deserved reissue(they have done so for other Universal Studios series).

You can download entire seasons at FrostWire.com. I just downloaded the first season. Although, I'm watching an episode on COZI at the moment, October 7, 2013. Thanks for the memories, George!! Great series. I was certainly disappointed when it was canceled, probably in favor of something stupid.

reply

There are only 17 episodes including the 2 hour (as opposed to 90 minute) pilot "Detour To Nowhere". Since they are only showing the once a week, Cozi can cycle through them in 4 months, take it off to run more shows like extra McMillans as it ran longer, then bring it back.

where have you been? We could have used you!

Right now, TVGuide.com seems to keep their schedules pretty good when it comes to the future. Not far behind is TitanTV.com. (TitanTV will do its best to figure out where you are.) Less reliable is a DVR schedule; e.g., Comcast. For the first half of the runs which started (here in Indy) on January 28th, they just put a one-size fits all log line. until there were four or five episodes left, and started out with them.

I don't think we'll see the pilot without some heartfelt requests.

e.g.

"If you're good at something, never do it for free."
Joker, "The Dark Knight".
