at the end helen and adele come from outside and Adele is giving her a bullsyt line about calling sister alma, when she was really going to call the cookie wagon, helen's face as she's nodding in agreement and how she stealthily takes the knife from the kitchen counter.....and back to creepy face, nodding......

It's weird. I've heard numerous people mention the picking up of the knife. I didn't remember that exactly so I went back and rewatched that scene. You don't explicitly see her pick up the knife as Adele walks into the line of sight. However, you do see her reach back toward it and you hear a metal clinking sound that makes it clear she did pick it up.
