The ending ruined the film

I was having a great time watching this all the way up to about the last 15 mins then it just turned stupid which is a shame.

Agreed.

The spear throw through the chest from 100 feet away was way too ridiculous given the rest of the movie.

reply

Well, the script ruined the book, which has never, never had a worthy screen adaptation. If they just filmed the damn book they'd have an unforgettable movie. But... no.

Zerbe was pretty compelling throughout. I didn't mind the finale, but did find the happy music over the end titles to be somewhat ludicrous. It's otherwise a fine score that's reminiscent of the composer's work for THE PRISONER.

Yes yes! Honestly, and aside from the camp, Zerbe's role as Mathias (pre and post apocalypse) helps to gird this film, similar to his other supporting roles, namely as two brothers, devout and expelled Franciscan priests respectively, in an episode of Gunsmoke ("The Noonday Devil," 1970, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0594484/).

I'd like to think that Chuck Heston may have appreciated Anthony Zerbe's balance and credibility.

Objection, your Honor. You can't preface your second point with first of all.

I thought the climax was okay. To me it was the weakest of the movie adaptions of I Am Legend.

I really did like the ending bit with Neville in a pool turned red by his blood.
