What would be your 'last picture show?'
Mine would be "Easy Rider" because it is another "end of innocence" story.
List a couple of yours.

Rebel Without a Cause or Die Hard
"I'm just a happy camper! Rockin' and a-rollin'!" - Patrick Bateman, American Psycho
A Few Good Men and Her
Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances.
- Sanford Meisner
This seems like such a beautiful thread. I have not watched The Last Picture Show yet so I can only guess as to the context that these choices are being made, but I have a pretty good guess.
I would offer up a title but it might change drastically once I do see TLPS. Ok, here is mine anyway and I'll check back in after my viewing: Paper Moon
My updated last picture showing would be One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
or O Lucky Man,
or Gone with The Wind,
or Amelie
At least a double feature of those listed selected by a show of hands.
No Country for Old Men
The Last Picture Show definitely influenced the cinematic approach the Coen Bros. and Roger Deakins utilized to capture the spooky remoteness of the West Texas landscape, as well as the haunting sound of the desert wind.
Ed Tom Bell's final scene captures the same open ended feeling that I got from The Last Picture Show's ending.
Cinema Paradiso! My all-time favourite film... and it just so happens to tie in thematically with The Last Picture Show here (end of an era, film theatre closing, longing for the past, etc).
He was sweeping, you sons of bitches, he was sweeping.
Open Range would be mine.
