Does anyone have a video or footage?

I have been searching long and hard for a copy of this great mini series for over three years, and have made numerous inquiries via phone and e-mail to the BBC, Masterpiece Theater, and BBC National Archives. I had feared that this great work had been tossed along with many other BBC productions of the 1970s (the BBC has a long track record of not archiving and saving their television "history"), but such was not the case. This mini series still survives at the BBC National Archives, but can only be viewed under special arrangements by indepent filmmakers and/or film students.

Please, if anyone has a video copy, or footage, please contact me. This film was first aired by Masterpiece Theater here in the United States in 1971, and encored in 1972. To the best of my knowledge, that is the last time it was shown.

Hello

I'm afraid I don't have the solution either. Me too I'm looking desperately for this 1971 serie, that really made a deep impression on me. I think we should write to the BBC

In the meantime I hope someone has a recording at home, and is willing to help us.

I wonder if someone have this series... I would want to see it, soon or later...
I hope the DVD will be realised! Do you think we can make it happen?

I too hope BBC will make this wonderful series available on DVD. It was shown in the US sometime in the 1980s, broken up into 25-minute episodes, with some cuts. But what we want is the original.

Saw this series on PBS as a kid and really liked it. My own kids have read the book and we would like to watch this series together as a family. If someone finds a copy, please contact me at [email protected] or [email protected]....Thanks....

I remember seeing this on A & E in the early 1990's. I videotaped a lot of the episodes when it was on then, but, unfortunately, it was on a beta tape and much of the tape lost it's audio and the video quality sucks. I sent an email off to A & E a couple of years back and they told me to contact the BBC. No luck there.

I cant say I have been searching for this, but whenever last of the mohicans or TV series in general come up in conversation I always say "do you remember that LOTM series on tele" and noone ever does !!! I cant believe it was as early as 1971, that means I would have only been 8 - but I know it was one of those series that we used to watch as a family on a Sunday. I would also like to add my name to the list of people interested in getting a copy ! Hope it is the one I am thinking of - certainly cant have been the 50's version as wasnt born, and sure it was over more than 2 nights which rules out the other version I read about - so this must be it and the Beeb have archived it, yet they keep repeating only fools and horses and dads army to death !
[email protected] if anyone does get a copy sorted !!!
Thanks,
Steve

Channel Thirteen in New York raran it in the afternoon sometime in 1977 or 78. I remember because I was in 3rd grade and home from school due to illness. I recall that week as one of the happiest of my life despite being sick. I watched each episode and reenacted the battles with toy soldiers on my bed afterwards. I can still hear the opening title music in my head.
