New Criterion Version

What do you mean exactly? Did Criterion alter the original version?

He(László Kovács)supervised the transfer for Criterion.

Written in the small folded booklet with the edition:

''Five Easy Pieces is presented in its original ratio of 1.85:1. Black bars at the top and bottom of the screen are normal for this format. Supervised by director of photography László Kovács, this high-definition digital transfer was created in 4K resolution on a Northlight 2 film scanner from the original camera negative and the black-and-white seperation masters.''

The original poster must need his eyesight checked. It's a stellar restoration.
