Edgar's motivations make no sense

The whole Edgar character is such a weird villain anyway, and this movie is full of so many physical impossibilities - forget the windmill being moved several meters by a motorcycle-riding Edgar, think about horse's teeth being strong enough to pull up a human being using a rope!

However, the main gripe I have about the whole core that makes the movie happen - Edgar trying to poison the animals - just doesn't make sense.

Let's list some reasons..

01) Edgar lives a pretty good life in a fancy mansion. His own quarters are shown to be ridiculously bad, considering it's a luxury mansion in an expensive part of the city, but we can probably assume he's getting paid at least 'fairly', and asking for a raise, he would most likely get it, being a loyal butler and all for so many years. He has no reason to suddenly become super greedy about things he can't get his hands on anyway until the 'Madam' dies.

02) Cats don't live very long, and the Madam is still alive. This means, it's possible the cats might die before Madam dies, so Edgar could very well just inherit everything in a couple short years. So there might not even be reason to be greedy with such a HASTE. Why is he in such a hurry, when he KNOWS he wouldn't inherit anything anyway until Madam is dead? No thought to mourn her (after TWELVE YEARS of being her man-servant!) instead of instantly thinking only about the money?

My point is, ANYTHING can happen, there is every possibility he could get the money as soon as Madam herself dies. She could very well OUTLIVE the darn cats!

03) Cats can't use money, cats can't legally (not sure about 'lawfully') OWN anything, because they are considered 'property' under legal system anyway, and have no human rights (as in right to own things), because they are animals. They can't function in society, they can't use funds, handle property, create contracts and so on and so forth. They can't buy, sell, hire or fire people any more than an oven can. It's not just about the lack of opposable thumbs and strength, it's the 'societal/legal/lawful status' that they just don't have as animals, lacking a way to use english with human beings as well.

I know Disney loves to antropomorphize animals into animal-shaped humans, but really, even in this Disney fantasy world, those cats would be out of luck if they were handed a bunch of money and they had to figure it out.

This means, SOMEONE would have to buy/sell/handle property (and so on) on their BEHALF. Who could that be? Oh, I don't know, how about the loyal servant for so many years that is going to get it all eventually anyway?

It's more than likely that Edgar would get to HANDLE all that fortune and money, the mansions and chateaus as he sees fit, with the pretense that it's FOR the cats. All he'd have to do is keep the cats alive, and he could in all practical terms, use the money/fortune/etc. as he sees fit, and just always use the handy-dandy explanation that he is doing it for the cats.

Want to cruise in the countryside on your fancy new car that 'the cats wanted'? Just take one of the furballs with ya, and you have the perfect excuse to cruise as much as you want. Want to go to the Chateau and throw a wild party and booze all weekend with your friends and such? Just say it's a celebration the cats wanted.

I am sure I don't have to paint a picture here, it's pretty obvious and self-evident, and yet Edgar doesn't even stop to consider ANYTHING for a second, before just wanting the cats dead immediately.

04) He doesn't get ANYTHING just because the cats die, if the Madam is still alive. So why is he in such a rush? Can't he at least wait to see what happens after Madam dies, and then sort it out? Would be much easier when the Madam isn't in his way, reporting things to the press/police/whatever as well, now wouldn't it?

There's ZERO point in trying to kill the cats before the Madam dies, because it would not lead to him getting anything yet. Just malnourish them slowly after Madam dies, and make it look like a natural accident, and it's all going to be yours. Who is going to investigate the murder of some friggin' CATS?

No matter how you slice it, Edgar's motivation to kill the cats AS SOON AS POSSIBLE makes absolutely no sense.

Not that anything about this turd of a 'most boring movie I have ever seen' makes much sense anyway..
