WoW! How'd That Get By The Censor?

i think all fans of The Partridge Family can agree that it is a wholesome family show but i was watching 2 Eps "The Diplomat" & "Heartbreak Keith" that have dialogue that made me giggle & think 'wow! how'd that get by the censor?'.

On The Diplomat episode the kids are concerned about their mom going on a date with a diplomat who's perceived by the press [and the kids] as a playboy. Shirley reassures them that she & the diplo [played by Richard Mulligan] met once, years ago at a political rally, and she shook his hand when they were introduced---nothing more. Keith responds with the line "Mom, a guy doesn't ask a girl out just because she has a firm grip."
oh no?

On the "Heartbreak Keith" Ep Keith is in love with his teacher, a slightly older & unbeknownst to him married woman. When Danny discovers Keith's crush he teases him about not having declared his feelings "You don't even have the nerve to ask the girl out for a taco"

i'll let you know if i stumble across any more great Partridge Family double entendres.

Maybe not the taco line, but I think there were a few other lines that were intended to have a double meaning. I just watched an episode where Keith took a girl up to his room and said "I need to have complete privacy for the next 3 1/2 minutes" and Shirley said "Is that all you need?". Of course he was just going to play a record for her, but I think the sexual undertones were pretty clear.

the firm grip was simply a handshake then, NOT your stupid comment about a girl hanging onto a guy! Jeez!

WHere i Am th efirm grip still doesn;t mean anytnhing different now than back then. Where does the firm grip have a sexual meaning. When did the meaning change? This is just an innolcent, timeless (mostly) show from a rather (not toally) different era. Retrogirl, you'rte a very admirable yopunge person. How does the specific term discussed handskae, meaning anything different in 2016 than now

Wow! Obvious reference to masturbation is obvious. How'd that get by the imdb censor?

Words and meanings change. Once again, the world did not start yesterday.

Road Song did have a bit of a necrophilia joke. Pretty sure that was the angle they were going at for that one due to everyone else's reaction after Keith said it.
