Does anyone else like this show?

I'm 18. I remember watching this when I was little when they played it on Nickelodeon. I have some of the episodes taped around here somewhere. It's my all time favorite show. Anyone else like it?

I love this show.. I watched it when I was a kid back when it first ran. I think it is hysterical..

I remember those first runs when I was in like the fifth grade. Were they nationally shown? My other half says she doesn't remember the show at all. She must not have - it's not something you can forget!!

I grew up in Brazil and watched Lancelot Link when i was a kid (in the early 80's, i think). I wasnt even sure where the shows filmed, since nobody inthe US seemed to remember it. Lancelot Link (and Mata Hari?) were "secret agents", weren't they?

sac9087 - yes, that was the first of the Japanese "guy in a rubber suit and litle model city" TV shows I remember seeing back in the sixties very early seventies. When I saw the first "Power Rangers" promo on Fox, all I could think of was "Ultra Man".

ebc1973 - yes, it's now on DVD. Check Ebay and Amazon. My youngin' couldn't stop watching!

BRgal - for some reason, I thought it filmed in the US or Canada. I'll put in a disc today and get back to you if there's any indication regarding filming locale...

Do you remember Ultra Man?

reply

yeah, i remember it from Nick At Nite. in the show, what do the initials C.H.U.M.P. stand for?

reply

i loved that show, too. i remember watching it every morning during my summer holiday when i was a little kid... even the re-runs because there weren't too mandy episodes or they weren't out in germany. i just remembered it, told a friend about it and couldn't stop laughing. it was so awesome. kind of stupid but it was definetely different.

--> C.H.U.M.P. (Criminal Headquarters for Underworld Master Plan)

Man, when is this going to come out on DVD? This was probably the first show I remember watching as a kid. It came on in the afternoon around 4 if I was not mistaken. It was not new when I watched it. This was probably 1975 or 76. In any case, I have never seen it since. I remember the show so vividly, yet it has been almost 30 years since I watched it last. Just recently, Land of the Lost hit DVD, and I am in heaven. Why do they not make such enjoyable shows now? Actually, I must admit that if I saw Land of the Lost today after not having grown up on it, and it was a new experience, I would probably think it was cheesy. Anyhow, hope this hits DVD soon. What a great show.

The official version is "Criminal Headquarters for Underworld Master Plan," but I don't remember that from 38 years ago. I do distinctly remember (and my older brother does also) Mata's voice saying "Crime Has Ugly Mean People," but of course that episode is one of the 10 episodes missing on the DVD released on this series.

I also loved this show.

I watched it as a kid in the '70s. To this day I can remember some of their skits. One day the crew was out in the snow. One of the chimps was trying to put on a knit hat, with marginal success. He pulled it down over his eyes. The voiceover said something like "This is the stupidest hat I've ever seen."

And one of the characters with the nuclear powered junk (boat).

I see it is available on Amazon. I'll have to get it.

Yes, I remember watching it on Sunday afternoons in Australia with my kids. It reminded us of Get Smart, particularly when Bernie Kopell's character appeared. We used to mimic some of the actions and expressions.

Last weekend I watched a similar but less frenzied program, possibly made in China (where I live now) that used east Asian monkeys instead of chimps. Of course, I immediately thought back to Lance Link, and also the Red Rose Tea chimps - a commerical that had chimps playing in a band, prior to the advent of the Monkees...

I watched this show as a kid (the first-runs, not repeats) and even had a Lancelot Link metal lunch box when I was 6 or 7. Wish I could find one of those lunch boxes now! (But I will order the DVD).

Hard to tell that anyone in late 1960s television programming was doing huge amounts of L.S.D., isn't it? There is no other explanation for Lancelot Link.

Favorite quote: "Oh, boy, that girl runs fast! Like a bullet!"

If you have any doubts about it, you don't remember H.R. Puf-n-stuf

"Are you ready Freddy?"
"Go, Joe."

I enjoyed this show when it was in its original run and I was four years old. One of my co-workers thinks it's the best thing that was ever on television!

I saw this years ago. I wasn't around in 1970, so it must have been reruns. I remember I loved it as a kid. The other day I found the series at a video store. Oh Mi God! I'm 30 going on 31 and I still laugh like crazy watching it. I laugh even harder when I hear Mata Hairi scream in her nasal voice, "Lancy!"

reply

I'm not sure what got me thinking about Lancelot Link but I am happy to find a group of fans here on IMDB. I've not seen an episode in many years, but I too can still hear that sound of Mata Hairi's voice yelling, "Lance". I can't say the name Lance without imitating her! Remember the Ed Simian Show...too funny! I never dreamed this show was available on VHS/DVD. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. Thanks for the memories!

I'm actually responding to everyone who wants to check it out. First, yes, it was nationally televised on ABC. Next, it was another in the line of spy spoofs. Probably the ones it most closely resembled were Get Smart, then James Bond. Especially since the lead villian on Lancelot Link was voiced by Bernie Kopell (Shtarker, VE DON'T DO ZAT HERE AT KAOS). Also, Lance's voice was a distant impression of Bogie, which Max loved doing. This was a show that appealed to both children and adults.
