One of the BEST!

I agree with most of what you say but I think it isn't as good as the other Dracula films (in this series not the modern era ones...despite the same actors playing Van Helsing and Dracula they have different continuities). It is a good film but I think that even 'Scars of Dracula' is better though some elements in 'Taste...' was superior.

'Dracula Has Risen From The Grave' which comes just before this one (hence the end sequence of that film is shown at the start of this one), is the best Hammer Dracula sequel. 'Dracula: Prince of Darkness' comes close.

'Brides of Dracula' is not as good as 'Taste...' but I consider it more of a spin-off as it doesn't even have Dracula in it. 'Kiss of The Vampire' was intended to be in the same series and thus I count that as a spin-off also. It is OK.

Ralph Bates was the only really interesting character in the film, and once he's gone, it goes downhill. Moves along very slow, too much pointless talking, uninteresting situations, Dracula not given much to do, as usual, except to say "The first." "The second." and so on.

This was the beginning of the Oscar The Grouch years for Christopher Lee's Dracula, where every once in a while the camera would cut to him skulking in the darkened shadows of some moldy building just like Oscar in his trashcan. Whenever the proceedings need some spice they cut to Dracula as he swirls his cape and looks sternly off to stage left. Then it's back to the plot for another ten or fifteen minutes until the next visit to the trash can. So over the course of a ninety minute movie we get to spend about ten minutes tops with it's "star", while the young lovers gambol about and tempt fate.

I absolutely love the title of this movie. It captured my attention right away. I bought a copy not even knowing it was part of the Hammer Dracula series at the time because the second I read the title, I knew it was a must see movie.

Agree wholeheartedly with OP; if not the best, as least as good as Horror of Dracula.

Yes this one is great, it's a really interesting way of bringing the Count back. I liked the occult elements and the twist of the puritan Father being a degenerate. Beautiful looking movie too.
