Jack Elam

What can I say, The great character actor's are gone. My goodness, much love to this guy.

Yes indeed. (Somehow I just can't picture him as Sam Goldwyn's accountant.)

Funny.

He was great in this as well as The Cannonball Run.

Its that man again!!

What can I say? While I too loved Mr Elam, I've no doubt there will always be plenty of fine character actors around.
There is, however, a vicious rumor that Elam and Marty Feldman once held a staring contest, and a person down the street was declared the winner! ;-)

Agreed. Any film that he was in was made much better by him being in it. Gotta love the power of great supporting actors in films. They deserve a lot more credit than they ever received.

Jake was one of the best comedic characters of all time IMHO.

reply

I agree, but Mr. Elam could also be a terrific villain or thug. He was masterful at using those eyes to make you laugh, or to intimidate and scare the hell out of you. What wonderful range. He is one of my all time favorite actors.

reply

Did you ever see him in the pilot episode of the lawmen? He played a really nasty guy in that one.
