good film

Good film, very surreal and pertinent to the times. I warmed up immediately to Marlo Thomas with her very soft and sensitive character, her beautiful big eyes and lovely hair and felt empathy for her delicate condition. It's too bad her situation made her so uncomfortable she felt lying made her acceptable, and I do see her point of why take a pill every day if no one asks. We all wanted Jenny happy and I was when Alda finally came to realize that he cared for her - the turning point of the film. In the 70's as the public felt that the chances of returning home from Viet Nam in one piece was not the best, having a child was acceptable. Some admitted Nam was a one way ticket to mud, blood and gore. And some that were very directly affected by the WAR during this time period were in bad shape. Their actions seemed disjointed and their lives lacked many of the characteristics of what we would today call normal living. It was a time of such uncertainty , a day to day confrontation that life is fragile and gone much too quickly. This movie represents that time in a story form.
