A wonderful film, a true statement in American Cinema.

A great achievement in American cinema and for me still stands up as a great document of a change in Hollywood and in Cinema. When American challenged anything from European cinema.

One scene alone is worth the love this film gets from me is when Fonda, Hopper and Luke Askew as the Stranger are riding along a empty highway with The Band's "The Weight" playing on the soundtrack . One of the most beautiful shots in cinema.

Plus we get Jack Nicholson in a breakthrough role. It's Dennis Hopper masterpiece, and he wouldn't have got to make the great The Last Movie. Peter Fonda wouldn't have made the underrated The Hired Hand. Plus you wouldn't get one of America's greatest actors in Nicholson. Love this film.
