Why does Wyatt say: We blew it?

My question is if there is a simple answer to why he says that? Or what your opinion about this is, what your individual ideas are. Because, quite frankly, I really didn't get that at all. The only idea that I have is that they tried to gain freedom through money and that that was wrong.

We're not here of this planet to take it easy, to have lots of pleasure, or to escape from life & it's lessons for us. We grow & learn who we are by doing & being throughout what we attract along the way. There's no easy way out unless you just want to check out entirely, & still that's not the easy way either (from a bigger picture). Besides, that's just what the establishment types do - get the money & act the big-shot, heartlessly with not connection to anybody or life itself. We're not here to be "high" all the time, although in filming this, that is just what happened!!!!! And it brought them big bucks!!!!!!

People also need to remember that Fonda, Hoppa and Jack had for years been making Hippie and Biker films that were less than glowing in their stances. They may have taken drugs etc but they were obviously very realistic in their views of where the hippie movement was shifting..... this was also just before it went tits up with Manson and the Stones concert incident.
