Based on the case of the Spanish serial killer Manuel Romasanta

This movie, better titled El Bosqe del Lobo (The Forest Of The Wolf) was okay, but I found it a bit slow. I thought the actor playing the killer was good, he had a real haunted face, and it seemed didn't want to be killing. Even though he was manipulative and canny in things he did to avoid detection, it was portrayed as an affliction rather than him just being sadistic.

I think the movie is helped a bit when you look into the actual fear of lycanthropy that affected Europe in the 15th into the 19th century, and how people were put on trial and burned at the stake for being werewolves. Mirrors the witch trials and aspects of the inquisitions.
