You may not need to buy the book to read it!

I was thrilled to find the book Who Gets the Drumstick? by Helen Beardsley (the real mom of the family) in my library system! I have reserved a copy and can't wait 'til it comes in.

I read in a thread here that the book is OOP and hard to find, that it's very expensive to buy. So I thought I'd check my library, and I'm so glad I did. Thought I'd pass this along in case someone else might want to do the same.

If you prefer to buy the book, I found several copies listed at www.bookfinder.com - Amazon has it for $8.04, including shipping!

God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Awesome!

It's a very interesting read if you're a fan of the movie. Biggest thing they left out of the movie is the role that Helen and Frank's Catholic faith played in their lives. It directly led to their meeting, and to their decision to adopt each other's kids.

I've had my eye on one on eBay for years yet it's still been over $30. I found one on Amazon for just $6! It's in good condition for its age and I'm very happy with it. My copy has no photos which is a disappointment but True North by Tom North has photos in his that he says are from his moms book.

That's not all that's in his book. This one, by his mother is a self-serving fantasy. ''True North'' completely debunks it. Both parents were monsters.

I still have the paperback I bought in the late 1960s!
