I hate this movie!

I stayed up till 3 am to see this junk, and I reagret it so much-
Sleeping is more exiting than this!
If you are planing or even thinking of seening this movie, don't!

It sucks.

Interesting,

When I first saw the movie in 1968, I went straight to the library for a copy of the book and stayed up all night to read the book. Loved both - although probably would not have liked the movie as much if I had read the book first. It probably also helped to see a 1968 movie - with all of its hallucinatory images - in 1968 ;-)

Your judgment of "it sucks" isn't helpful. Movies can suck for so many different reasons. Please give some specifics.

Movies like this are not for literalists. Plus, it would probably be fairly hard to follow without having read the book. Since I did and saw the movie shortly afterward (a wonderful coincidence for me), I had no problem following it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would, however, love to see what could be done with a re-make--especially since it seemed to have received so many bad reviews.

I'm very excited it will be coming out next month to see how much my response to it has changed since I saw it in '68. Probably will say a lot more about me than the movie!

Hm. Just read that Fowles partially acknowledged a late 19th-century novel called BEVIS by Jefferies
as a source for THE MAGUS. Could we have the theremin, please?

Other than Zulu I’ve enjoyed all of Caine’s movies from the 60s I’ve seen so far.
