D-d-d-d-d-dated claptrap.

Oooooohh, he's an anti-establishment cop! SASSY!!

Hot girlfriend WHO DOES NOTHING.

Sexy jazz flute.

And why would creepy Robert Vaughan read The Wall Street Journal way into night?

This junque makes "The Great Escape" seem realistic.

LOL.

And Christopher Nolan films that confuse young people into thinking they're deep and original... That's cool.

IMDb is hilarious. People get so mad at films considered classics because they only want Johnny Depp to be Marlon Brando, and for everything new to be taken as seriously as the old stuff.

But, as bad as that flute solo is... and IT IS BAD... and that sexy girlfriend who does nothing (except make the main character realize that, like all cops eventually, it's almost impossible to have a relationship, or for one to last)...

It's still a great movie because it tells a STORY.

Movies nowadays spend so much on effects, the story is second-place.

Thank God for classic movies, and the fact that, when they were made, the writers and directors didn't have a billion nets to fall back on.
