What a horrible movie!

I watched this movie on TMC soley because of my infatuation with Janice Rule, but barely made it to the end. Horrible writing, subpar acting and totally irrational behavior by the characters. Some decent actors involved so this was a major disappointment to me.

that's a shame.

I saw it when TCM was playing a day of Burt Kennedy movies. He may not have had a genuine masterpiece to his credit, but they're usually pretty entertaining (The War Wagon, Support Your Local Sherriff, Hannie Caulder, etc.), this was... a mess. After rebuilding the town, you'd expect Henry Fonda's character to make amends for the irrational behavior earlier, and things just go from bad to worse.

What's the message they're trying to push? Pacifism gets you killed, but so does standing up to a threat? It'd be better for all involved if this one never got made.

Wrong. This was a very entertaining movie, and everyone in it was good. They can't all be "Citizen Kane" (fortunately).
