Is Christopher Plummer’s role a cameo?

I haven’t seen this film yet but am sizing up a Christopher Plummer movie I haven’t seen yet as a tribute watch for the great actor who died a few days ago. I presume his role as Rommel is a brief cameo appearance - he was already a star by this time but isn’t billed as one of the key names on the poster.
