Anyone Know What Was Cut?
Seems like everyone hre saw the 'Succubus' version which is apparently shorter than the original German release. Does anyone know how much was cut and why?

shareI don´t know and I don´t want to either. I think the version I have is perfect and it is the "Succubus"-version. One of the greatest films ever made.
shareHi! I don't know but this might a give you a idea:

The German version and one English version ends with about two minutes of exit music played over black. It might not seem important but it's very evocative music and is a much better ending than the quick cut off on the US DVD versions.
shareThe opening is longer, there is a off screen narrator and an image of an infant in black background, this if right before Miss Raynaud steps into the picture. Very errie! What the narrator is saying I have no idea as the copy I have is in Italian. The ending is also very different. After killing her lover Raynaud goes to the sea cliff becomes a corpse/skeleton and commits sucicide by jumping off. Hopefully one day we will have a dvd of both versions.
shareI wonder why they cut that ending, particularly with everything else they left in? The U.S. version of this film ends very abruptly and doesn't really make sense – not that the rest of it was that coherent.
shareThe version currently available streaming on Amazon has the quick cut ending.
shareTim Lucas' magazine Video Watchdog #1 did a piece about the alternate Italian version which Franco said in European Trash Cinema magazine did not have his involvement, reportedly Bruno Mattei. Cinesex #26 published a fumetti of the alternate and some pages were reproduced in VW #1.
shareYour info is correct. But the German version does have footage that is NOT in U.S. releases that was Franco's cut.
