Best of the Trilogy

I often wonder why people like Good Bad and the Ugle more than For a Few Dolars More. I think the story and the pace of Dollars is far better than Good Bad Ugly. Good Bad Ugly just seemed to go on to long. I am a huge fan of Lee Cleef and I enjoy his part in Dollars because he is on the Right/Goog side. I really enjoyed his scenss with Clint in this film. They played off each other so well. I also loved why Lee was going after him and how he got his man in the end. Truly a classic and easily my favorite of all three films. I would put Good Bad second and Fistful third, but I will watch Dollars every time it comes on and the other 2 I only watch rarely.

I think Eli Wallach is a huge part of why people like TGTBTU better and I just think its a much better film, better direction, score, characters. Van Cleef is fine but he's no Wallach or Eastwood. The first time I watched TGTBTU I was nervous Tuco was gonna get it during the showdown and was relieved to see angel eyes get it instead, he just didn't resonate with me like Clint and Eli's characters. A few dollars more came on TCM not that long ago and I wanted to watch it but couldnt get through it for some reason, its like Leone had to make Fistul and this film in order to hone his skills to work up to his masterpiece but thats just my opinion everyone has different film taste so no right or wrong answer.

Wow. For someone to have such a polarized view of two very related films is a bit extreme... then to top it off to come to the message board for the one you claim you can't even sit through to comment on it for some reason? I'm thinking this has less to do with either film and more to do with you.

It's my favorite too. I loved the partnership between Manco and Mortimer, the classic mismatched partners united against a common enemy.

This is my favourite as well.

TGTBATU may have the iconic soundtrack and maybe is more epic but i agree it drags in parts as did Dynamite and West which i found a bit boring.

This one has the best balance and is the one i would recommend to someone who had never watched any. Plus the final showdown with that score is on par with the end of Ugly
