Natalie couldn't sing ...

... and was dubbed by Jackie Ward in IDC. Natalie does sing for herself in
Gypsy (1962) and it is my least favorite of her movies. IDC is on the low side of my list because Natalie was miscast in this movie that called for a younger rising star actually able to sing.

of course she was too old for the role but she played the part very well. Thats all that matters.

I don't hold anything against you for killing me, but if i could it would be a knife

Yes and no.

It is a matter of plausibility.

There have been several occasions when I have read that the age of an actor (actress) was significantly different from the character's one, not rarely I could hardly believe it because of the good work he/she has performed.

However, Wood was a big star at the time (in fact a star of any time, an eternal one) and everybody knew her age before watching the movie, so she got this role because she was a star and because that makes money for producers. Plausibility was neglected.

You can make even a woman play man and vice versa, and it can still be plausible and justified (Linda Hunt e.g.), but decisions like using Wood are almost insults

Plausibility was neglected.
NO kidding. And it bothered me the whole time. 15? Going on 17 at the end? I love Natalie but they made a mistake.
If they had changed the age at least a few years upward it would have made a difference. Like 19 and then going on 21.

Did you make coffee...? Make it!--Cheyenne.

Even the voice dubbing her didn't sing very well. And poor Natalie not only can't sing or dance...she can't even lip-sync!

There were a few camp elements in this mess, but Natalie, likable as she is, is just plumb awful.

A suicide scene played as farce? Then went nowhere. I was hoping the house would blow up when she lit a cig.

reply

I figured she was dubbed, I heard she was not a great singer.
