Made in black and white

I cannot think of such a flick, which was so perfect; for black and white.
Gave so much more tension.

Any other thoughts; which add, to any other films: or this?

FAIL-SAFE

reply

Agree; even the one shot "live" in 2000 was right for B&W

reply

How about "Seven Days in May", another classic Cold War film?

reply

Dr Strangelove

reply

Come now. The tension was provided by the drama, not by the tint of the film used.

reply

black and white photography adds much to certain films
like the ones cited.
some films are simply not appropriate for color
just take a look..if you dare..at the dreadful remake
of Psycho in color. It is absolutely appalling and
takes everything that was chillingly special about
that Hitchcock classic and ruins it.

reply

Nonsense. If the Psycho remake was dreadful, it was because of the dreadful acting, not the fact that scenes were presented in their natural colors. Can you name any quality color movies that would look better in black and white?

reply

Even more nonsense from you.
Congratulations on comparing apples to oranges in living color.
My comments were directed specifically towards Psycho not to other
films that were originally in color.

Yes there are some films that do better in black and white
like The Bedford Incident. I'm not in favor of taking color movies
and making them over in black and white. That is absurd.
Psycho is a very dark atmospheric film and needs to be shown
that way. Yes the acting was horrid but that was hardly the only
thing wrong with it.
Try reading my post again and perhaps you will understand it.
I accept your apology in advance. ; )

More pretentious pro-black-and-white blather, but I notice you didn't answer my question. But reply with some more color-is-icky pontificating clichés - it's easier.

reply

OK, let me try to blather more in a way
you might understand.
I never indicated that any films in color would
look better in black and white so there is no
reason to answer your question.
I'm simply stating that classic films originally
shot in black and white are done for a reason
and should stay that way.
Color films are terrific and there is no
reason to remake them in black and white.
As for your blathering...
Try a little harder to accept a more
diverse world with more colorful opinions
than yours.

I fear I'm interrupting your Saturday cartoon viewing pleasure. But do write again soon.

Fantastically put

You can't reason with people who don't get or don't like black-and-white. Expecting them to comprehend is pointless, like administering medicine to a dead man.
