VLV as a stage musical

When i was watching this gem recently, I thought that with some tweaking (some major, some minor) it could work on the stage. You'd have to do something about "The Lady loves Me", but not omit it as it is one of the best numbera in the film. I am talking about the ending when Ann-Margret pushes Elvis into the pool. That couldn't be done too easily on stage. You might also have to add more songs, and flesh out the plot a bit. I think it could work though. Anyone else think the same thing?

I can see it. I recently saw the stage and movie versions of WHITE CHRISTMAS. The movie came first. In the stage version the plot and characters were strengthened.

yeah, see it's worked. I'd really like to see it happen.

I am with you, I would think that it would be hard to do this movie as a musical for the stage. And there are a few parts that will be too hard to do on stage. Like when he gets pushed into the hotel's swimming pool, that is how he loses the money in the first place. No what are the parts that you think that will be major or minor to change for it for the stage. Yes, in fact the part is that you might have to add on extra songs, because like Disney animated movies, this could easly a one act play. And plus with the race car driving during this movie, how can you do that on stage? Plus the fact if you are thinking of it, being tried out for Broadway, what they would have to do is to take to a city, where the crew will get some of idea of what is working and what is not, and have it ready for Broadway. I mean yeah it could have a look of a Broadway Musical Show, and plus the fact is if are you going to even have musicans on stage, like some of them are seen in the film.

What would be the point? Just rewatch the movie.

I think it could certainly work...and besides, turning classic films into musicals IS getting to be a bit of a thing now. Not a bad thing, either. ;D

Not to dis this, as I think it could be done as a stage musical. Stage shows are fantasy, you can do it without a pool and without a few hundred miles of auto racing. You would still need a bit of the flick. (The original Grease in a former Chicago factory/auto shop had a real car onstage.) Rocky was well done on Broadway, with a boxing ring actually thrusting into the audience for a finale, but, for whatever reasons, it just didn't click with the public.

That big car race scene might be a bit difficult to pull off on stage, too.
