I thought Joan was hot in her '20 years ago' look

C'mon, I can't be the only one...if I was her daughter's fiance that she flirted with, that'd be one temptation that I can't say that I would resist! (Even though that could mean getting myself killed)

Oh dear, really? I thought she looked hideous.

I say that as a Joan Crawford fan who thinks she is very beautiful. I just thought the way she was "dolled up" with gaudy makeup and jewellery to look younger was tacky.

When I was about 10 or so my mom and I were watching this and I said Joan looked great in those scenes. My mom said "I think she looks like a floozy!". Now that my taste has um, matured, I have to agree. I do think STRAIT-JACKET has one of her best performances though. Whatever is or isn't true re her private life, she never gave less than her best onscreen. And she never had a butt. Shoulders you could land a 747 on, but very little t and absolutely no a.

It'd make a good headline--"PLAYBOY KILLS WIFE WITH CHAMPAGNE CORK!"

That's funny - when I was about 11 I thought Dotty West was very pretty, and the adults looked at me like I was nuts. Now? Floozy...good lord. Not that there's anything - ah, you know.

Kinda like Dolly Parton has always said, "it takes a lot of money to make me look this cheap."

I just watched this tonight and she did look pretty pathetic in that get-up. In fact. when Joan acted in that flashback in the pre-title sequence, I had to wonder what kind of ego would make a middle-aged woman try to play a 29 year-old girl. It also made me think of my envy of younger guys and how I'd wished I looked like them (I'm 47) and it's stupid, really. Seeing Joan do that has really changed my way of thinking.

I think Joan Crawford aged really well...but you could only tell when she didn't have a ridiculous haircut as she often did in her later movies.

I thought she looked really beautiful and elegant without the whole get-up with the age appropriate suit and hair in a bun. It was such a natural look it showed off that she really aged well and she looked rather elegant. In the '20 years ago look' she did look rather pathetic, and as someone said, like a 'floozy' or 'mutton dressed as lamb.'

But that was kind if the point. Carol wanted her mother from 20 years ago, not her mother as she was when she returned.

But you are, Blanche. You are in that chair!

You are so right about that, Ophiuchus. My first exposure to the two of them was as hags. I was so shocked to see them as younger women, how pretty the two of them were, but I prefer them as old.

Much too harsh IMO.

Much nicer with the wig, however.

Raise your glasses, please, into a toast, for we are many hometown ghosts.

She's a little scary...like someone who'd tie you up, cram their breasts down your throat to stifle the cries, then axe off your head.

But, it's a look.

Actually, she looked pretty skanky with that raven black hair and overabundant paint allover her face. The gray hair was a much better fit.

she looked softer when she acted and looked more her real age.
I thought she aged good. in her middle years she looked rather hard and severe.
but as she got past that she looked better again.

Frankly, she looks like a whore. With bad taste.
