THE THRUM SOUND

Since I was a kid, I have been entranced with the 'thrum' sound Henry makes when warding off the fish or warning about the subs.
Anyone have any idea where I could get the sound in an MP3?
It would be so cool to have as a ringtone or even as the sound that announces my mail.

I just came on here to ask the same thing. I might just have to make it myself.

Actually, I'm just wondering if anyone might happen to know how they MADE the damned thing? What did they use?

All the useless trivia floating around on imdb and the one piece of trivia people would undoubtedly want about this film can't be found.

As with most sound design, it's a composite of several sounds... like Godzilla's roar.

It sounds to me like a lion roar (the very beginning) overlaid with a slowed down toilet flush (churning water going down a drain) and then they spliced on scraping the inside of a 55 gal metal drum at the end. With a lot of echo thrown in.

I could be wrong about all that :D but it's definitely several sounds spliced together. Just listen a number of times for the individual bits.

This is a long shot since you posted 16 years ago but do you know how they made Limpet's rroar sound or thrum sound as you call it? Just curious.
