Color version Yes or No.

Speaking as someone who actually grew up in this era, I have to say that I've never understood why this movie was made in black and white. I can only assume it was a money saving move, and that the studio didn't care about the film itself. It was very rare at that time for a movie to be made in black and white, and it seems very anachronistic and out of place. People are saying "it was a film of its time," but a film of its time would have been made in color. Black and white was a misstep here, and mars what is otherwise a good film.

It is the black and white, documentary look of this film that keeps it timeless, while Help! looks dated. The films are a year apart, but the boys look 10 years older. There is no reason to color this film.

Watched this film yesterday (again) and the editing, cinematography, lighting....good gawd who would mess with this? Its beautiful.

People diss HELP way too much. It's a fine, goofy movie and sums up the fun and goofiness that the 4 moptops generated. And it's very innovative. I find it much more watchable than AHDN. The Monkees was based on this movie and Monty Python took a stack of ideas from it too. I know The Goons humour were a good source for the movie, but it is still very underrated by critics and many Beatl fans.
