I've seen 4 of the Hammer Frankenstein films and so far, I agree. Just an all around cool movie with a great block-headed monster. Almost feels like a Hammer-fied Universal Frankenstein film.

i disagree. i just saw this one for the first time and i've only seen the first two before this from the hammer series so far but this one just seemed very inconsistent with the previous ones. because they now had a business relationship with universal they were allowed to use elements from their frankenstein films and i felt they took it too far. it feels more like a universal film than a hammer film. i kind of liked the look of the monster but it seemed too reminiscent of jack pierce's work. the jerk controlling the monster and using him to get revenge on the villagers felt straight out of son of frankenstein. and frankenstein himself seemed much less evil than in the others. not to mention that the continuity doesnt make any sense. in the first film he was sentenced to death in his home town because the monster melted in acid and he was blamed for its murders because nobody beleived it existed. in the sequel he faked his death and moved, before being killed and having his brain put inside another identical body and fleeing with his assistant (who is nowhere to be found, let alone mentioned here). but now his entire back story is changed and he returns to his home town where he had been warned to stay away because his (entirely seperate but before now unmentioned for some reason) monster was well known. its not a terrible movie but i dont think it fits very well with the others and i wouldnt have minded if they had left it out and gone straight from the revenge of frankenstein to frankenstein created woman.

I've seen 4 out of the series as well and this is my favorite so far. I plan to see the remaining three soon so if they're as good as this one I'm guaranteed to be satisfied.

Its superior to the other Hammer Frankenstein movies in all respects plus it has the coolest looking monster by far, even if it is paying a homage to the Universal films.

In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

Nah, while it's good gothic 60's flick from Britain and superior to the previous “The Revenge of Frankenstein" (1964), it’s not as great as the next two entries, “Frankenstein Created Woman” (1967) and, especially, “Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed" (1969).

This one thankfully took the standard Frankenstein story and added the entertaining village carnival element as well as the interesting involvement of a selfish hypnotist from the fair. But the next two are more creative plot-wise, which makes them superior in my eyes.
