Uncredited Performance

Last night I watched this movie on the DVD I recently purchased. It's always been a favorite film of mine. Love Rod Taylor. I noticed in the rowboat scene a quick glimpse of who I thought was Jim Hutton, another favorite actor of mine. In checking the cast list, I found JH listed in an uncredited performance. One more reason to consider this movie one of my all-time favorites!

I never noticed that; I'll have to look for him; he was very cute indeed, and funny to boot--

He was very, very cute. 

He got sexier as he got older. He was SUCH a hottie when he played Ellery Queen!!!

It's not even a performance; it's more like a Hitchcock like cameo. He has no lines, and most of his screen time shows the back of his head. It would have been kind of funny if Hutton had shown up in uniform, since his characters in his previous two films were servicemen.

i recognised cliff robertson from the twilight zone series, but he was more memorable in that, that must have been something for these actors, i remember on dvd audio commentary that many of the actors were happy to had been playing in the twilight zone. here he's pretty much just clowning around of what i remember. the loud music score is too much and ages the comedy.

i've been chasing you for years,
since we first met without getting anywhere,
everything i give, well i try my best,
telling your friends how i feel, but without success,
even though we don't share the same interest,
somehow doesn't matter in your presence,
and though our worlds would collide,
i'd like to pick up the few pieces, as we fly.

"Ages the comedy"? The movie was made in 1963, so it looks and sounds like 1963. That's part of its attraction. What did you expect it to look and sound like? 2015?

reply

Yup, it's him, all right. 

In fact, my reason for seeing this film is because I heard that he had this small uncredited part.

I wonder why he wasn't given a bigger role in this movie?
