Epic ladder scene:Who got hurt the most?

My brother and I would have a friendly debate over which person had it worse. What about you guys?

J. Russell Finch. I believe he was the one who crashed through a roof. Others had their landings somewhat soften (like Otto Meyer in the bed).

Interesting topic. I used to try to figure out if their injuries measured up to their bandages at the end. Let's give a quick rundown to both how they fell and how they were bandaged.
Based on the bandages, it appears Falk suffered the worse with the neck brace and eye injury, however that happened. Silvers is intriguing if he landed in the bed, why the 'post' bandage?

I would say Falk, Hackett, Rooney, Thomas and Winters would be the most concerning. If they weren't fished out immediately, they would have drowned.

Shawn's seems rather extreme as well, for being hurled down that table like that and he clearly injured his hands to some extent.

Anderson's is interesting, as he was still alert when he landed on the statue, but he's completely wrapped up at the end.

I'd have to go with the three guys on the power line, then thrown into the water.

Sid Ceasar - thru window, down stairwell, still conscious
Peter Falk - fell straight down, thru bridge, into water
Eddie Anderson - trampolined into lap of Lincoln statue, still very conscious
Phil Silvers - thru window into Murphy bed
Buddy Hackett - on power lines, fall into fountain
Mickey Rooney - on power lines, fall into fountain
Terry-Thomas - on power lines, fall into fountain
Jonathan Winters - suspended from palm tree, falls into construction vat, cement?
Milton Berle - suspended from palm tree, falls thru roof
Dick Shawn - suspended from palm tree, crashes down party table
Spencer Tracy - suspended from palm tree, swings on wire into pet shop

Spencer Tracy - full body cast, head bandaged
Terry-Thomas - back injury? arms in cast
Dick Shawn - broken fingers, suspended up, face bandaged
Mickey Rooney - head wrapped up, suspended up on his stomach
Jonathan Winters - on his back, hands bandaged
Sid Ceasar - hand bandaged, head wrapped, very odd knot in bandages
Phil Silvers - arm bandaged, strange bandage attaching to his chest
Peter Falk - neck brace, eye bandage, leg in cast
Eddie Anderson - mummified, totally wrapped up, save for face
Buddy Hackett - leg cast, bandage on nose, able to throw banana peel
Milton Berle - casts, head injury

I remember my bro and I agreeing on how much the following must've hurt.

.Fall through the bridge.
.The table "swim".
. Into the window and the bannisters

You'd think the power line injuries would have been the worst of them all, but I think Dick Shawn was the worst - every finger broken? That'd suck!

Thanks, richard, for the breakdown of injuries/casts from final scene!

Interesting. You're afraid of insects and women. Ladybugs must render you catatonic.

Yeah, they got it pretty bad. But how about two other characters who were not on that ladder, but had a whole gas station fall down on them? Ray and Irwin, those neurotic pump-jockeys who picked the WRONG day to mess with Lennie Pike. These two were thrown through walls, through doors, through windows, had a building collapse on them, and they came out of it with barely a scratched, just a little dazed and dusty. Funny how those two can just get up and walk away, but the others fall off a ladder and get laid up.

J. Russell Finch. Milton Berle is in his mid 50's and he falls through a roof!

Sid Ceaser had the worst gang

Before the building he was electrocuted splattered in paint etc and he fell through a floor etc

Rochester (the cab driver) probably got the least though the film seems to show otherwise

reply

In an attempt to justify Rochester's bandages, my brother and I would argue that the statue was made of stone. 

It had to be Culpepper. He must have got bitten by at least 10 dogs

reply

But he crashed thru the second story window, ended up somehow on the ground floor, and many of the dogs escaped. How?
