I wanted to like this film…

I like Dick van Dyke, Paul Lynde and Ann-Margret and enjoy musicals. But this film was dumb, unfunny and chock-full-o untuneful songs that are more jazzy than rock n’roll. [Given the film’s premise, I expected rock]. And I was shocked at how bad Ann’s singing voice is during the opening and closing numbers where she fills the screen. It seemed like she was screeching. My god, she is a vision of loveliness, though.

I’m honestly surprised this film has so many fans.
